Flying to Las Vegas, NV

Flyover Tucson, AZ

Have a 3 hour layover in Las Vegas on the way to San Francisco. It’s a full flight and people seem to be a bit edgy… or is it me? Las Vegas flights always seem to be a bit rambunctious, especially the evening flights. I’ve done my share of flying, but today feels like I’ve never flown before. Things outside my window seat seem new and exciting. There is some uncertainty, like did I pack enough (my 28L pack is bursting at the seams)? Did I pack too much (why did I bring a clothesline)? Do I spend my three hours in the airport or do I grab a cab and hit the strip for some Blackjack?

Pro Tip: If you ever hail a cab from the Harry Reid International Airport (the airport formerly know as McCarran International Airport) to go to one of the close by resorts (Luxor, Excalibur, New York New York, MGM), tell the driver to take Tropicana Ave., not the freeway. The freeway adds extra mileage and about $5 extra bucks to your fare. The cab drivers are notorious for this!
